Reality [IS] constructed; whether by the
individual • family • school, or society.
However, all people are born into a world that [IS]
already constructed. Modern society [IS] becoming
more rigid in its construction and less of a possibility
exists for personal freedom and satisfaction.
The world culture that we live in [IS] consolidating,
as we speak, under international capitalist values.
The debate between capitalism and other forms of
societal structures rage on, but capitalism continues
to dominate and expand its control. IF we believe
that capitalism and the political military economy
that arises out of it are the best of all possible worlds,
as we have been socialised to accept, then why does
the struggle against oppression continue?
In the sports section of every notable newspaper in
the world the drama of life is reproduced; but in a
different, more acceptable form than the headlines
of death, destruction, war and peace. Games are
played by real people with each contest a new plot
but with familiar symbols and messages about life.
Spectators gain access to this rich drama by watching
athletes involved in the fantasy of play.
THIS WORLD contrasts sharply with the world of
widespread alienation, a world in which people
long for close individual and communal ties to
overcome the impersonality and coldness of life.
Sports act as the magic elixir that nourishes; the
rest of the world merely drains.
Sport conjures up the mythic in all of us, a time
when everything is pure, existence at its most
basic level. However, this perception of "sports"
as decontextualised from culture ignores the very
reality of sport and its intimate relationship with
SOCIAL POWER STRUCTURES.

Gordon Brown - the man who claimed "to have ended the cycle of boom and bust for the UK" - Didn't he also save the world as well from ALL of its financial woes? - is here again at the penultimate moment of the Euro Crisis expounding the fact that IF the G20 doesn't get its act together to help keep the Euro alive we shall all be faced with potential bailouts for France and Italy as well.
Surely its the founding members of the Euro project - Germany, France and Italy - who should now be realising that the wheels are falling off the charabanc because they chose not to fit tyres to the wheels in the first place.

The eye with which I see God is the same with which God sees me. My eye
and God's eye is one eye, and one sight, and one knowledge, and one love.

Of the hundreds of voters I spoke to while campaigning for Leave in the referendum, some I remember more vividly than others. A large gentleman with a pornographic belly tattoo, who answered his door armed only with a rather petite towel and several technical questions about the EU, looms in my memory. So do the elderly West Indian couple who asked Labour’s position. They dismissed Jeremy Corbyn, and Chuka Umunna, their MP, as irrelevant, preferring “proper Labour”, which they defined as Kate Hoey.
Canvassing can be comedic and revealing (sometimes literally). But I’m haunted by the scores of people who said some variation of: “I’ll vote Leave, but they won’t ever let us do it, even if we win.”
I gave each a direct answer: no, that’s wrong. This is a democracy. We are not made to vote again and again until we give the answer our superiors want; here, the mighty must do as they are instructed by the electorate.
I still believe Brexit will happen. But they were closer to the mark than I believed, those pessimistic Leavers.
Observe those campaigning to ignore the biggest vote ever cast in our history. A slew of the elite are so accustomed to getting their way that they are straining every sinew to breach the basic covenant of our democracy.
