with the new Meteor missile launched in defence of UK airspace. RAF Typhoons maintain a constant state of readiness to defend the sovereignty of British skies. Quick Reaction Alert jets based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland are regularly scrambled to deter Russian aircraft approaching UK airspace over the North Sea.
The exact nature of last week's incident remained classified.
The introduction of Meteor represents the culmination of many years of research, development and testing to bring the advanced weapon into service on front-line aircraft.
The Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson, said: “This latest missile system demonstrates the next chapter of the Typhoon which will see the jet evolve its ability to target and destroy any airborne threat at great distances.
“The Meteor missile will provide an unrelenting deterrence to those who wish harm upon the UK and our Armed Forces. The RAF’s prized Typhoon Force is unquestionably now the cornerstone of British and Nato military power. It has proved itself in combat roles over Libya, Iraq and Syria, protecting UK skies and overseas territories, and providing critical support to our NATO Allies in Eastern Europe.”
Meteor can fly in any weather condition at over four times the speed of sound. It has been designed to defeat all current and known future threats, including combat aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles or missiles. The range of the weapon is classified, but it will eventually operate from the F-35 Lightning stealth jet.
The missile - weighing 185kgs and measuring 3.7m long - uses an air-breathing ramjet to boost the weapon away from the launch aircraft. It then remains under power until warhead detonation, giving the missile the energy to pursue and destroy the fastest and most agile aircraft. The warhead carries impact and proximity fuses so targets can be destroyed even if the missile does not score a direct hit.
The pilot flying the first Meteor equipped Typhoon said: “The responsibility of flying such a capable platform, armed with this formidable weapon is immense, but the options this gives us in responding to an emergency situation cannot be understated.”
Meteor has been developed by a six-nation European partnership led by the UK. It is built and manufactured by MBDA in Stevenage and has created 430 jobs across the country. The Meteor programme partners include the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden.

g preoccupation into the realistic prospect of
a spontaneously coordinate planetary society." Synergetics: Explorations in the Geometry of Thinking
Buckminster Fuller
Synergetics is a product of Fuller's passionate concern with models. Concerned that society's ignorance of science is seriously destructive, he devoted years of thought to ways of alleviating this ignorance. In the 20th century, we suddenly find ourselves confronted with an "invisible" atomic reality in which the average person understands very little about how things work. Although confronted daily with "incredible technology", which to Fuller includes the natural phenomena of Universe as well as the ever-expanding inventory of human invention, the vast majority assume such phenomena to be out of their reach. Fuller attributes this widespread discomfort to both the "invisibility" of science and the devastatingly complicated mathematics without which, scientists claim, their findings cannot be described. The dangerous chasm between scientists and lay people, with the truth guarded by an elite few and the rest resigned to ignorance, thus seems inevitable.
The origin of this troubled state of affairs? An incorrect mathematical system! Long ago human beings surveyed this environment and, seeing a never-ending flat Earth, decided upon cubes and orthogonal planes as the appropriate measuring system. Today, says Fuller, we're still stuck with that uninformed early guess, and as a result, nature's behavior has seemed irrational, perverse, and difficult to describe because we're using the wrong kind of yardstick. With accurate models, he claims, this gap can be closed. The purpose of synergetics is to make the invisible events and transformations of Universe visible, through tangible models that elucidate the principles behind our energy-event Universe. Human beings will thereby be able to "coordinate their senses" with a new understanding of reality.
Synergetics is full of tantalizing models; the difficulty comes in assigning them to aspects of physical reality. However, a number of notable examples, in which a newly discovered scientific phenomenon is described by one of Fuller's previously developed models, suggest that there may be many more such successes to come. The immediate goal therefore is to unravel and study the geometric system [IT]self.

hysical objects and the ways those objects interact.
M-strengths consist primarily of abilities in areas that can be termed spatial reasoning. In particular, excelling in spatial reasoning involving the creation of a connected series of mental perspectives that are three-dimensional in nature-like a virtual 3-D environment in the mind. Basically, the strength enables people to see 3-D images in their mind and walk round them, take them apart and reconnect them. Many M-strength children with dyslexia display their creative potential quite clearly outside of the classroom with building, experiment, drawing or creating.
Difficulties
Letter reversals, answering apparently “simple” questions-especially writing (because the ideas that the students are attempting to express or often so complex), many M-strength people with dyslexia reason in largely non-verbal ways and often find it difficult to translate their thoughts into words (often discrepancy between conceptual understanding and ability to express or demonstrate understanding in words).
Key points about M-strengths
the ultimate purpose of M-strengths is to create a continuous, interconnected series of 3-D perspectives as a basis for reasoning about real-world, global, all big picture spatial features, rather than about fine detail or 2-D features.
The spatial imagery perceived by individuals with M-strengths may take many forms, from clear visual imagery to non-visual perceptions like force, shape, texture or movement.
The form spatial imagery takes is less important than the uses to which the person can put it.
M-strengths often bring trade-offs like symbol reversals and subtle language challenges.
Individuals with dyslexia in general, and those with prominent M-strength in particular, show a late blooming pattern of development and their developmental progress should be judged on its own terms, rather than bystanders created to judge people who do not have dyslexia.
Individuals with dyslexia who show prominent M-strengths often show signs of impressive creativity outside the classroom.
Dyslexic children with M-strengths have tremendous potential and often grow up to become remarkable and creative people.
Occupations and fields for this strength:
Engineer, mechanic, construction, mathematician, interior designer, industrial designer, Illustrator, graphic designer, architect, medicine, painter, sculptor, photographer, filmmaker, landscaper, aeroplane pilot, air traffic controller, dentistry.
Teaching methods - Reading
M-strengths usually benefit from methods that engage their strength in spatial imagery. These typically involved various forms of visual, positional or movement-based imagery. Finding a method that stresses the particular form of spatial imagery that an individual excels in (e.g. kinaesthetic, visual) can greatly increase the likelihood of success.

rom John
Hazard, entitled Manifesting the Noosphere, IS right on time and on
point. Jose Arguelles may be dead, but as John Hazard has so succinctly
summarised ... Arguelles has left us with a beautifully written book he
calls “Manifesto for the Noosphere.” He clearly envisions a new
synthesis of collective human awareness, a new state of mind that is
a shared experience.
“Just as the biosphere is the unified field of life and its support
systems…so the noosphere is the unified field of the mind, the
psychic reflection of the biosphere. Because we as a species, the
aggregate of consciousness-bearing cells of the evolving Earth,
are not yet awake to our role as a planetary organism, so too the
noosphere is not yet fully conscious. When humanity becomes
conscious of itself as a single organism and unites to activate the
noosphere, we will find the collective resolve and will to reconstruct
the biosphere and divert the energy of the human race from a path of
destruction based on a mechanised abstraction from nature to a new
harmonic order of super-organic reality based on an entirely
different state of consciousness than has yet existed on Earth.”
... and John Hazard concludes - Somehow, part of the description for
how we get there from here is caught up in our perception of time.
Mostly, our way of thinking about time is by thinking about the big
hand and the little hand on a clock. Time is linear, and we perceive
it when we pay attention to the phase of the moon, or the rising and
setting sun. And of course, we get older day by day.
