grity of the Over The Counter Derivatives Market. As a result of her initiatives it became ever more apparent - at the highest level of both politics and finance - that those in charge subscribed to their own self-serving faith in the OTC derivatives market operation - to the extent that Brooksley Born's "constructive criticism" was entirely without foundation.  6 weeks after congress threw out any chance of acknowledging the problem - let alone fixing it - major panic ensued in the market as the hedge fund Long Term Capital Management  collapsed towards potential bankrupcy! "For someone whose eyes would go glassy when hearing "derivatives" or "hedge funds", this programme was a revelation. In an entertaining and clear narrative, it made sense of the issues involved for the first time. It is also the story of a real American hero, Brooksley Born, who unfortunately had to learn, in Gore Vidal's mot, that America provides every freedom, including the one not to be heard. But PBS is there to fight that attitude, and as a Canadian I congratulate you for this magnificent documentary which had me riveted from beginning to end." Maarten van Dijk Oct 21, 2009 12:29   "We have to go back to the glass-steagall act and purge what Bill clinton signed into law replacing the glass-steagall act.. All executives of public corp. should be held personally and jointly liable for bad business practices.. tough regulations should be in place.. Bring Volcker and Brooksley Born into the mix.. They are the real financial experts... They have high standards of morality and have a honest heart to protect the public from corrupt executives.. They used their God-given talent for the common good." Florendo Navaleza Oct 22, 2009 01:40   This was truly a political and financial "case study in arrogance" in the context of the absolute truth that neither GOD or POLITICS or the FINANCIAL system are "religion in any shape or form" - because it was the faith in self-serving religion rather than the faith in common-sense which eventually brought the financial system to its knees in late 2008 at the expense of the peoples of this world who had absolutely no say in the matter because of the total lack of representation in Congress.…

f the life which was borne into this world by SHE who has finally passed the torch... [IT] IS fitting, therefore, to thank you ALL for your kind remarks and to advise you particularly that I have cherished this solid brass statue and its intricate detail  for many a year as part of a collection which symbolises for me the passing of the torch - in the form of   the seed amongst us zaadzsters et al - from Guatama Buddha to Mahakashyap and onwards from India to China, China to India, India   to Japan, Japan to the USA and hopefully now  from the USA to the entirety of all the peoples of all the nations of the WORLD. LET the PEOPLE decide ! A model of INSIGHT ARISING from the Goddess of COMPASSION towards AUTHENTIC SELF …

Comment on: Blog Post 'Venus of willendorf'
2 million years ago and not long afterwards, groups of hominids started to fan out from their African homeland in search of new food sources. These early migrants from the species Homo erectus are thought to have reached Southeast Asia via the Near East, and they may have penetrated southern Europe. A second wave of migration began about 800,000 years ago. As the early humans adapted to their new homes and to the various environmental and climatic conditions that they found, different sub-species and races  developed, among them Java Man, Peking Man and, in Europe Homo heidelbergensis and the Neanderthal race. Meanwhile, in Africa, a new type of human evolved - one that would eventually spread across the globe and supplant others. Homo sapiens sapiens, the modern human race, dates back to about 100,000 years ago and around 40,000 years ago the species reached central Europe and had arrived in Australia. The Americas were the last continent to be populated - by settlers crossing from Asia by way of the Bering land bridge. The very success of Homo sapiens sapiens in displacing all of its rivals is due to y[our] species' greater mental capacity and, in particular, its complex language skills. Human culture took a giant step forward in the latter part of the Old Stone Age, from about 40,000 to 10,000 years ago. It was during this time when humans were beginning to shape the environment which they lived in and as they did so they began to feel the need to express themselves through art. Art seems to have been an exclusive preserve of y[our] species. The number of works they produced increased dramatically in the course of the last Ice Age as y[our] ancestors spread around the world. The rock drawings and engravings they created still have a very powerful impact today, as do the small human and animal figurines that the first sculptors carved out of mammoth ivory. This carved limestone figure gets its name from where it was found, near the village of Willendorf in Austria. It stands just 11cm (4.3in) tall. …

Comment on: Blog Post 'THE HUB OF AIR DEFENCE'
, the father of airborne radar, Dr. Taffy Bowen recounts his personal story of how the first airborne radars were built and brought into use in the Royal Air Force, and of the Tizard mission to the USA in 1940, of which he was a member. Written from the point of view of the individuals who worked at the laboratory bench, the story begins with the building of the first ground air-warning radar at Orfordness in June 1935. The book proceeds to describe how this equipment was miniaturized to make it suitable for use in aircraft and the lengthy, sometimes hazardous flight trials conducted before radar went into service with the RAF. The author also details the activities of the Tizard mission, which was instrumental in installing the first airborne radars in US aircraft. The greatest achievement of the mission was to pass on the secret of the resonant magnetron to the US only a few months after its invention at Birmingham University. This was the device that brought about a revolution in Allied radar, putting it far ahead of the corresponding German technology for the remainder of the war. …

hanged. Not because it rusted. No, its meaning changed. The human environment around the screw changed. So the screw changed too. At first, the screw meant laughter, teasing, general irritation, neighbors coming together to see what’s going on. The screw became a violation of human duties. Then the screw changed into shrugging shoulders. And then the screw became peace. No one could walk past without a peek at the screw and feeling peace.  Nature As Our AdvisorAnd I had these deep thoughts about potentiality as I understand easily from the BBC interview with Richard Feynman. He is a quantum physics scientist and if you ever want to understand nature and the way our reality is being created in space, please listen to his beautiful and fun explanations. I could never understand physics in school. But I can understand Richard. He tells me imaginatively about jiggling atoms. And why there’s heat and cold. And how symbiosis between objects is transferring heat and cold. Not making it more or less. Just transferring. And then I connected the dots with what Lynn Margulis taught me. About symbiosis in nature. Evolution. And how we always evolve. It just goes too slow for us to realize. That makes us depressed. At this moment, we just see many people and unfair humans systems being too deeply rooted in our human brains. We think we can’t do things differently. But we can! We are just toddlers on this Earth. The sun is just halfway through his lifespan. And we have 5 billion more years to figure it all out. …

current  reality by evidence to the contrary. In other words,   when the nature of inquiry conflicts with the nature  of reality, we collectively experience a paradigm  shift.
